Volunteers Needed for Sportman's Show Fishing Pond

Calling all volunteers!

Volunteers needed to help Icicle Valley Trout Unlimited at "Lunker Lake" at the Wenatchee Valley Sportsmen's Show on Sunday, February 25 at Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee. Lunker Lake is a fishing pond where kids fish for rainbow trout for free.  This is a fundraiser for the chapter where show organizers donate $500 to our chapter.

Volunteer duty is pretty easy at this event. Just bait hooks, help kids fish, and net and dispatch the fish. Lines are fixed to the rods so there are no reels to deal with. For those not wanting to work with lines and fish, we also need one volunteer for each shift to host a table with chapter information, a sign up sheet and door prizes.

The trout come from a private hatchery  and kids are welcome to take the fish home. If they prefer not to keep the fish they caught, it will be put on ice and donated to Wenatchee area meal programs for homeless people. Fish that aren't  caught will be donated to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to stock the juvenile fishing pond near Rock Island.

Volunteers at Lunker Lake are admitted free to the show for the day (Sunday) and are welcome to take in the rest of the show before or after volunteering. Those who volunteer will also be put into a raffle for an Orvis Big Mac Sling Pack!

Shifts on Sunday, February 25:

10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

We are also looking for 1 individual who would be able to help set up Lunker Lake starting at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22 ( 2- 3 hours) and 1 individual who could help take the pond down starting at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. It takes about an hour and a half or a little more to take the pond down. Setup and take down involve some physical work.
