Youth Scholarship for week at Fly Fishing Camp

Icicle Valley Trout Unlimited and the Wenatchee Valley Fly Fishers offer full scholarships to youth ages 12-16 to attend a week-long residential Fly Fishing camp. The camp will be held at Hicks Lake in Lacey, WA from June 24-30. Application for scholarships are due by April 15, 2018.

WHAT IS IT ?

One full week of fun and living in clean, warm cabins at the Gwinwood Center on Hicks Lake.
Camp is designed to educate youth about the importance of conservation and resource stewardship. Students will develop basic fly fishing skills, knowledge of outdoor ethics, and an awareness of the sport fishing opportunities in the Northwest.
The Wenatchee Valley Flyfishers and the Icicle Trout Unlimited Chapter will cover the entire $300 tuition fee for a limited number of successful applicants.
The Academy is a youth education project of Washington Council of Trout Unlimited.
Transportation to and from the academy is not included.

WHAT IS PROVIDED ?

Adult supervision, Lodging and Meals, Fishing gear and Fly tying equipment. Students may bring their own fishing gear.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING ?

Pillow-Sleeping Bag-Toilet Items-Rubber Boots-Outdoor Clothing -Misc. Personal Items

HOW DO I APPLY ?

Each applicant must submit:

An application.
A short essay explaining why they want to attend the Academy.
A letter of recommendation from your school science teacher, home school instructor, scout leader or school counselor.
