Programs & Activities

We are active throughout the Wenatchee River watershed bringing people together to care for and recover the rivers and fish we love, inspire the next generation to become stewards of our natural resources, and make friends along the way!

CONSERVATION & RESTORATION

As a conservation nonprofit, the Icicle Valley TU Chapter is a leading conservation nonprofit organization working to protect and restore our rivers and native species that call them home. We lead volunteer days including riparian plantings and trash cleanups. We provide community science programs to identify degraded stream habitat in need of help, and partner with the TU national staff, state and local partners to drive forward larger initiatives like watershed planning, dam removal and landscape-scale restoration projects.

YOUTH EDUCATION

Blackbird Island Pond, nestled in the forest along the Wenatchee River and inside Leavenworth’s Enchantment Park provides a place for handicapped, youthful and senior anglers to immerse themselves into the world aquatic. Yearly, we stock the pond in conjunction with the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery to provide an educational backdrop for various classes and events. Recently upgraded with new pumps the pond is a place for learning and enjoyment. Through in-school programs like Trout In the Classroom, hands-on field days, family fishing days and partnerships with local youth organizations, the Icicle Valley TU Chapter reaches many young anglers a year with positive fishing and conservation learning.
