Everything we accomplish is thanks to you! When you attend a fundraising event or make a donation to the Icicle Valley TU Chapter, you are joining other supporters committed to making our conservation, education and community work grow.
What we have accomplished so far:
- Our first big project in cooperation with the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery was the building of a handicap fishing platform on the Icicle River. For the effort the club received the prestigious Washington State Silver Trout Award. This was the beginning of multiple conservation projects which brought recognition and awards from the State of Washington and National Trout Unlimited..
- With over a million in federal, state and local support the chapter created a major improvement to Leavenworth’s Enchantment Park by creating the Blackbird Island Fishing Pond. Our volunteers created a back channel through the park that improved rearing locations for our salmonid populations and took an abandoned gravel pit, installed pumps, trails and secured yearly trout stocking which created a fishing pond that 24 years later still provided fishing opportunities for the young, senior and handicapped anglers.
- In 2007 our chapter built a “state of the art” barbecue wagon to raise funds for projects. We participated in various civic events during Leavenworth’s Autumn Leaf Festival and the Wenatchee River Salmon Festival.
The Icicle Chapter continues to plan for a future of conservation and education that makes our area the best environment possible.
