Local Fishing Information

The Cascade Mountain range is fortunate to have incredible fishing opportunities and getting active with our group is one of the best ways to meet passionate anglers eager to share their knowledge on where to go, how to improve your skills and what to use to find success fishing the rivers and streams we work together to restore.

Here is some information about the fisheries available to anglers in our area. Always be sure to check the state fishing regulations.

LOCAL RIVER #1 ICICLE CREEK

The Icicle is one of our region’s most enjoyed fisheries, renowned for its cool waters and fantastic alpine scenery this major tributary to the Wenatchee River flows along a Forest Service Road to it’s end at a trailhead. Many great riffles, runs and pools are visible from the road and entertain a large number of anglers during the fishing season. A three weight rod with a standard selection of nymph and Adams style dries should work.

Remember the late summer brings elevated water temperatures and with it increased mortality rates for caught fish. If you are into catch and release please don’t play your fish too long and keep them in the water. Thanks in advance Some years the WDFW allows salmon fishing in the Icicle River from it’s confluence with the Wenatchee and the Leavenworth federal Fish Hatchery. Check current regulations for specific information.

LOCAL RIVER #2 WHITE RIVER

The White River flows into Lake Wenatchee and is open for fishing until Oct 31st above the waterfalls. It’s a half hour drive on paved roads ( most of the trip ) from the lake. Enter the campground next to the waterfalls and try your luck. The river is getting a little warm so watch your temperatures before you wet a line. It’s a cloudy colored water ( lt. mint color ) from Sylvester Glacier about 15 miles upstream. It’s good clean water just has glacial silt. Rainbows and West Slope Cutthroat are available up to fifteen inches but most are 8-10″ so bring your light gear like a 3wt fly rod. Wading can be tricky in the deeper spots since you cant see bottom due to the colored water. The mosquitos and horseflies are gone but bring bug juice none the less. Surface risers were hitting early October Caddis emergers and Purple Haze Adams style dry flies.

LOCAL RIVER #3 THE ENTIAT
